| What is EM:RAP?
EM:RAP is a truly unique monthly audio program designed to give listeners an in-depth review of a specific EM-related topic in a format especially designed for easy listening.
Each month, EM:RAP provides its subscribers with a tightly edited two hour and 40 minute presentation that includes information from leading edge conferences, grand rounds at top-ranked universities, in studio presentations and case conferences. This information is supplemented with commentary by our hosts, Mel Herbert and Stuart Swadron, and one-on-one interviews with authorities on the subject under consideration.
You’ll find EM:RAP to be to-the-point and loaded with practical information that you can use in your day to day practice: “how to’s”, drug dosages, common pitfalls, medicolegal pearls and cutting edge clinical research.
Who Are The Hosts of EM:RAP?
Another way in which EM:RAP differs from traditional audio programs is that EM:RAP is hosted. Mel Herbert, MD, and Stuart Swadron are our multiple award winning presentation team. Both are full time members of the faculty at the Los Angeles Country/USC Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency. Mel started the EMRAP program in September of 2001 and Stuart came on board in 2007. Stuart has been the residency director at the USC program for the last five years and has created a “golden age” in the academic program of one of the largest and oldest programs in the county. Together they put together each month’s issue, provide commentary and conduct interviews with EM leaders so that you’re provided with an in-depth look at leading edge EM topics month after month.
Between them these two commentators have won a remarkable number of local and national teaching awards. To list just a few: the UCLA “Chairman’s Teaching Award”, the USC Faculty of the year award, the CAL/ACEP Education Award, the Emergency Medicine Residents Award for Teaching Excellence, the Honorable Mention for the Outstanding Speakers of the Year Award and the National Faculty Teaching Award from ACEP and many more.
By chance both have accents, Mel’s from his native Australia and Stuart, Canadian. While both have trained and have practiced in their native countries, between them they have more than 30 years of clinical and academic experience in United States. In the last 15 years they have been intimately involved in the training of many hundreds of the best students and residents in Emergency Medicine. Along with the vast EMRAP commentary team, that includes listeners, our hosts present some of the most interesting and dynamic presentations available in Emergency Medicine today. |
